In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the distinctive drawing process of Johan Barrios, known for his intimate, realistic figures that appear suspended between presence and absence.

You’ll learn how Johan builds his drawings with charcoal and watercolor on paper, enhances them with transparent washes, and then mouths the work on wood panel for a refined and archival finish.

A 4-day oil painting workshop focused on teaching my personal creative process through a combination of demonstrations, guided exercises, and one-on-one feedback.  The workshop would emphasize both skill-building and conceptual exploration. Participants will focus on fundamental elements such as depth and composition, posing the figure, light, and color while learning to incorporate objects in unexpected ways to create tension, narrative complexity, and poetic ambiguity.
